WHAT DOES YESHUA MEAN?

Simply put, Yeshua is the Hebrew name for Jesus.  Actually, the name Jesus was derived from the Hebrew name Yeshua*.  But whether you call him Jesus or Yeshua, his power, deity and identity is still the same.  As an example, lets say my name is Michael, in Spanish they may call me Miguel – whether they call me Michael or Miguel I am still the same person.

WHO IS YESHUA?

In Jesus/Yeshua dwells all the fullness of God in bodily form (Colossians 2:9).  He is the Son of God (Matthew 14:33).  Yeshua is also God (they are one), according to the truth – the bible.  He is the word of God and is God (John 1:1).  Before the world began, he was there, all things were made by him and through him.  In him is life, and the life is the light of all mankind (John 1:2-4).  But the world recognized him not (John 1:9-11).

In the beginning, he made all things good (Genesis 1:31), but mankind rebelled against him and were lost to sin, we turned our backs on God, and the penalty for sin is death.  Our hearts were continuosly evil and we had no hope (Genesis 6:5).  We were cut off from knowing our creator, talking with our creator and having a relationship with him. BUT God so loved the world that he made a plan to save us from hell and allow us to be in right relationship with him again.  He came to earth to bring salvation, to rescue us from darkness, first to the Jews and then to the gentiles (all non-jews) (Romans 1:16) – He brought salvation to the world!  This is the good news!

God was in Yeshua and came to earth to reconcile the world unto himself (2 Corinthians 5:19).  He gave up his life, and took our penalty, to deliver us from sin and death (Romans 8:2). Now, he is raised from the dead to the right hand of the Father and exalted (Hebrews 1:3).  He saved us from sin and offers us a new life in HIS kingdom, but we must surrender our life to him (verbally through confession & obedience) (Romans 6:4).  Jesus/Yeshua reigns, his throne is for ever and ever (Hebrews 1:8).  He allows us to be part of his kingdom and to be called a child of God by adopting us unto himself (Ephesians 1:5).  He is our salvation (Hebrews 5:8-9), resurrection and life (John 11:25).  He is also our judge (Acts 10:42), and we will all stand before him one day when we leave this earth.  Therefore, we should all repent now and seek him while he may be found.  God is good and loves us!  However, he doesn’t force us to choose him.  We choose whether we want to go to heaven or hell.  Choose life, choose Yeshua!  The God of the universe wants a relationship with you!  He is waiting.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

To be part of his kingdom, and receive Yeshua/Jesus, he says come as you are!  You don’t have to be perfect; you just have to be willing to acknowledge that he is God and to give it all to him.  He knows you can't save yourself or change from your ways, this is why he gave his life for you - so that you may have dominion over sin.  When you give your life to Jesus, he changes you from the inside - it is a work that his spirit does from within you.  He makes you a new person, so that no one can boast.  This is HIS gift to mankind, that he paid a very high price for.  He only asks us 3 things:

  • Believe in your heart that Jesus/Yeshua died for your sins and was raised from the dead on the 3rd day
  • Confess with your mouth that you have sinned and repent.  Repenting is just making the decision to turn from doing things your way and giving your life completely to Yeshua/Jesus (Romans 10:9).  To give your life to Jesus, you just verbally state it out loud.  He will begin the change from within, you just need to make the decision.  The strength to say no to sin will come from Jesus, from his Spirit within you.  Also, you don’t need a priest to give your life to God, you can do this right now.
  • Ask God for forgiveness in the name of Jesus and ask Jesus into your heart. Ask him to lead your life, choose the life he has for you (the life we you brought to this earth for).  Declare his calling, purposes and destiny over your life.  Ask him to deliver you from all evil and guide you into his plans.  Surrender it all and he will give you a new life, with him!  This is the most important decision you will ever make in your life – and your life will change.
